Brown joins cyber risk management leader’s growing team of experts helping healthcare providers build and mature information security programs

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 18, 2019)—Clearwater, a top-ranked provider of healthcare cyber risk software and consulting services, today announced the appointment of Cathie Brown as Vice President, Professional Services. Ms. Brown brings more than 30 years of experience in healthcare, health information technology, health information security and consulting.

Reporting into Moore, Ms. Brown will help lead Clearwater’s growing roster of healthcare security and compliance experts. She joins a team with a track record of 100 percent acceptance by the Office for Civil Rights of risk analysis conducted on behalf of customers facing enforcement action related to an information security breach. Ms. Brown served as Deputy Chief Information Security Officer for the State of Virginia from 2006-2009. Most recently, she held the position of Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer at Impact Makers, a Virginia-based management and technology consulting firm where she helped the firm’s healthcare provider partners solve complex IT and business problems. She also spent nearly 19 years with Centra Health, where she served as the system’s first Information Security Officer. Ms. Brown is an active member and advisor to several health IT and cyber security organizations, including the Virginia Cyber Security Partnership, Advisory Board for Virginia Commonwealth University Computer Science Cyber Security Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education, the Center for Cyber Excellence at Liberty University and the board of directors for the Virginia chapter of the Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS).

Ms. Brown maintains certifications as Project Management Professional, Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT, Certified Information Security Manager and Certified Information Systems Security Professional. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Averett University.
