Press: Clearwater Further Accelerates and Measures Risk Reduction Through New Innovations in its Security Operations Center Portal and IRM|Analysis® Software

Enhanced Intelligence Flowing Through Clearwater’s SOC and Proprietary Software Helps Clients Identify Critical Vulnerabilities, Visualize Trends, and Show Risk Management Progress

LAS VEGAS, NV (March 4, 2025)Clearwater, the largest pure-play provider of cybersecurity and compliance solutions for the healthcare industry, announced today at the HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exposition new innovations in its Security Operations Center (SOC) Portal and IRM|Analysis® software that are helping the growing universe of clients who use the company’s tech-enabled managed services more rapidly identify and remediate critical cybersecurity vulnerabilities, visualize vulnerability trends to better focus resources, and measure and show their progress with reducing cyber risk.

Enhanced Vulnerability and Exposed Asset Views Drive Faster Risk Reduction

According to a report by Sophos, 34% of all ransomware attacks in 2024 in healthcare sector resulted from an exploit of an unpatched vulnerability. With Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs) increasing 38%from 2023 to 2024, healthcare organizations are struggling to address the highest priority vulnerabilities making their organizations more susceptible to ransomware attacks.

Subscribers to Clearwater’s Managed Security Services can now access information in the company’s managed security platform that breaks down vulnerability data into different data views, providing more intelligence for remediating vulnerabilities faster and reducing risk. New reporting features provide “smart” views that place attention on critical and high vulnerabilities associated by largest potential impact to the organization. Clients can utilize new sorting and filtering features to determine where they can reduce the most risk and focus limited resources in those places, more rapidly reducing their risk.

In addition, Clearwater’s SOC has expanded asset information beyond just vulnerability data that are now available to its clients within the Portal. Examples include: Installed Software, Network Interfaces, Last User Login Name, Last System Boot, and Last User IP Address.

As a result of the new data, and Clearwater’s overlaid “white glove” vulnerability service, clients have seen an average reduction in vulnerabilities of 20% over the past four months.

“One of the key issues that healthcare cybersecurity teams are facing is the overwhelming number of vulnerabilities creating excessive noise and major challenges with prioritization and remediation efforts,” says Steve Akers, Clearwater’s Corporate Chief Information Security Officer and Chief Technology Officer of the company’s Managed Security Services team. “With these new technology innovations, clients are more rapidly finding the signal from the noise and taking action to protect their organizations from potential intrusion.”

Trending Visualizations and Intelligence

Clearwater also has added a number of new trending visualizations to its SOC Portal. Clients now have the ability to see Vulnerability Counts and Vulnerability per Asset trends to better understand their overall change in these two critical metrics over time. In addition, clients have gained the ability to access point-in-time comparisons for both Vulnerability Counts and Vulnerability Per Asset to make easy work of gauging progress from any point in the past to any other point up to current. Vulnerability exposure risk and correlation with points in time is providing the next level of detail helping healthcare organizations visualize their posture and easily show progress in their vulnerability remediation efforts.

Trending visualizations and intelligence also have recently been introduced into Clearwater’s flagship software product IRM|Analysis in the form of period-to-period dashboards and exhibits that provide clients with clear, visual evidence of improvements in their security posture.

The period-to-period dashboards enhance IRM|Analysis’ strong foundation of delivering impactful business intelligence, including the software’s governance-at-a-glance and risk dashboards. These new metrics enable organizations to establish a clear baseline of their risk profile, track progress against improvement goals, and measure key indicators over time to strengthen their security posture. By providing actionable insights through historical comparisons and trend analysis, they help clients make data-driven decisions that drive continuous risk reduction and resilience.

“The new dashboards and comparison tools make it easier for Clearwater clients and the consultants who support them to compile and present data to tell the story of the progress they are making with respect to managing cybersecurity risk,” says Jon Stone, Clearwater’s Chief Product Officer and architect of IRM|Analysis and the company’s the IRM|Pro software suite. “Period-to-period comparisons help clients track trends and identify evolving risks, enabling them to make more informed decisions.”

Clients that subscribe to any edition of IRM|Analysis or subscribe to Clearwater’s risk management managed services program, ClearConfidence, have access to the new period-to-period dashboards.

HIMSS Global Health Conference attendees can learn more about these innovations by visiting Clearwater at kiosk C1000-20 in the Cybersecurity Command Center.
